Day 64 - Halali Campsite, Etosha National Park to Cheetah Park
Packed and Ready to go at 5h30am, excited to do another safari before we say farewell to Etosha. We were let out of the campsite at 6h20am and started our morning game drive. We had driven for 45 minutes when we turned a corner and saw a Nomad Tours truck off to the side of the road, we slowed down, then pulled in front of them and as we looked for what they had stopped for saw under a fallen branch a leopard with its kill of the night, an impala. It was very special and the best treat before leaving this beautiful place. We watched this magnificent animal while having breakfast and as it got up to leave we did the same. Just 5 minutes later we saw a Honey Badger on the prowl for food which is rare to see in daylight as they are more of a nocturnal animal, this was a very lucky morning!
We continued on across the Etosha Salt Pan to the Okaukuejo exit where we did the vet check once more before leaving the Park. We continued on 100km to Outji where we stopped for lunch and grabbed some Biltong from a local butcher to enjoy on the 100km drive to Cheetah Park.
We arrived at Cheetah Park mid afternoon and were greeted by Marcus (the owner) and let through into an enclosure with 3 of the Cheetahs that were tame enough to touch, so much so Marcus's 4 dogs live alongside them in harmony. We left the enclosure and headed down to our campsite where we setup camp and most of the group went off to see the Cheetah feeding session that Marcus put on. We then went for a dip in the pool and Al relaxed as the weight was off his back which he had managed to stuff up earlier in the day.
We headed back to the truck for burgers & fries made by cook group then Al took some amazing muscle relaxers which toned down his back issues and finally passed out.
