Day 34 Nairobi to Cape Town
Mikumi Bush Camp to Mbeya Bush Camp, Tanzania 480km We woke up and set about breaking down the campsite after we had a delicious cooked breakfast prepared by Ingrid's cook group. We then left the camp and proceeded 20km to the entrance to Mikumi National Park. We entered the park and were greeted by a large population of Giraffe, Buffalo, Zebra, Warthog, Elephant & Gazelle. We continued through the park for 50km and then up into the mountainous region and then down into Baobab Valley where we saw.... BAOBAB TREES!! , traffic was light, roads weren't too bad and we made good time.
We had lunch at the side of the motorway and quickly continued on as we still had a lot of kilometers to cover. We noticed a lot of truck accidents along this particular stretch of road primarily due to speeding and then a loss of brake overheating and finally failure resulting in some pretty hairy crashes.
The sun started to drop, we quickly setup camp and Al's cook group prepared sweet & sour chicken for the hungry masses overlooked by a local man who may have had a few too many drinks and all he wanted to do was drive the truck. We then all called it a night and prepared for yet another crossing, this time into Malawi.
