Day 20 Nairobi to Cape Town
Karen Camp, Nairobi to Snake Park, Arusha, Tanzania 200kms We woke up late 0730 and gathered our gear and proceeded down to see Gareth, Patrick and the "Newbies" that were joining us for the 2nd leg down south.
We said our goodbyes to "Smiley" & the rest of the Karen Camp crew and drove to Karen Shops where we loaded up on fuel and food for our trip then slowly left Nairobi behind us. We then encountered roads that were literally dirt tracks which slowed our progress to a crawl and put us 3 hour behind by the time we reached reasonable tarmac and ended up getting us to the Kenyan/Tanzanian border around 1500. After a reasonably quick (1 hour) visa process we were all granted entry and hurried to make some time up. We made it to the Snake Park around 1900 where we quickly pitched our tents and gathered for a traditional dinner made by the Park staff which was delicious and filling then joined "Ma" , "BJ" & "Dion" (owners of Snake Park) for a couple of drinks before heading off to our tent for a well earned sleep.
